5 Pics, Featuring Wilson Contreras & Corey Seeger (July 30)

There are 15 games in Saturday’s MLB slate, which means there are plenty of players to take advantage of across the board.

Player props have become one of the most popular bets in the industry, but while the number of states with legalized gambling continues to grow, some may feel left out.

With PrizePics, you get the opportunity to essentially parlay game prop over/under with a cash payout, depending on how accurate you are on that day’s slate.

So, let’s take a look at some of the options on Saturday’s Major League Baseball slate and see where we can find some value in turning a profit.

A quick refresher in case you’re not familiar with prizepicks: You can combine up to five different O/U player props to pay up to 10 times your bet.

You can flex play or power play. Flex Play gives you low odds, but you can win money even if you don’t complete every pick. Meanwhile, a power play is similar to a parlay – it’s all or nothing.

Here’s how I would approach today’s MLB slate.

MLB Awards Plays for Saturday, July 30

Drew Smiley over 4 Strikeout

We have the third matchup of this four-game series, as the NL West’s San Francisco Giants host the NL Central’s Chicago Cubs.

Left-hander Drew Smiley is taking the mound for Chicago in this game and could be a candidate worthy of support in the strikeout department.

As of 12 starts this season, Smiley is 3-5 with a 3.93 ERA and 1.27 whips. While those numbers are “take it or leave it,” Smiley has been throwing the ball better lately.

In his last two starts, Smiley leads 1-0 with 1.74 ERA and 0.99 WHIP, while making four strike outs in each outing. In fact, Smiley has reached at least four strikes in nine of his last 11 starts (82%).

This trend may continue against the Giants, a team that has been just 25th in the league in strike percentage since June 1 facing left-handed pitchers. In his two careers, starting against San Francisco, Smiley has made at least four strikeouts.

Wilson Contreras over 0.5 runs + RBI

We are also backing some of the Cubs in this competition, as they go up against right-handed Jacob Junis. Through 11 pinching appearances this season, Junis is 4-2 with a 2.98 ERA and 1.01 WHIP.

While those surface-level numbers are great, their metrics show that the regression is waning. This season, Junis has .315 xwOBA, .250 xBA and .426 xSLG.

That regression has only recently begun to slowly affect Junis. In his last three starts, Junis leads 1-1 with 4.76 ERAs and 1.35 whips.

The Chicago batsman we are backing is Wilson Contreras. In his last seven matches, Contreras has accumulated at least one run/RBI four times (57%).

While the sample size against Junis isn’t very high, Contreras is 1-for-2 with a single against him in his career. Contreras’ metrics are strong this season, as he has .368 xwOBA, .256 xBA and .458 xSLG.

While it is certain that Contreras will be traded over the next few days, I have high hopes for the second half of the season from Catcher.

Siya Suzuki Hitter Fantasy Score 6.5 . more than

The other Cubs we are supporting in this game is Seiya Suzuki.

While Suzuki has never faced Junis before, he may find some success here, as he hits the right-handers well.

Facing a right-handed pitcher this season, Suzuki boasts of .275 BA, .343 OBP, .444 SLG and .787 OPS. Suzuki’s metrics are also around those numbers, so I don’t expect to see any regression.

The game is a good buy-less opportunity for Suzuki, which has exceeded this total just once in its last six games.

Adolis Garcia over 0.5 runs + RBI

We have the third matchup of this four-game AL West series, as the Los Angeles Angels host the Texas Rangers.

We are backing some Rangers hitters as they prepare to go up against right-handed Chase Silseth.

Through six starts this season, Silseth is 1-3 with 5.84 ERAs and 1.46 whips. His metrics are even worse, as he has .378 xwOBA, .304 xBA and .502 xSLG.

The first Rangers hitter we are backing is Adolis Garcia, who has surpassed this total in five of his last six matches (83%). When facing a right-handed pitcher this season, Garcia’s division has grown by almost 23%, as he has .265 BA, .306 OBP, .495 xSLG and .801 OPS.

Corey Seeger Hitter Fantasy Score 8.5 . more than

The other Rangers hitter we are backing is Corey Seeger. It is worth noting that Seeger missed Friday’s game due to a foot injury and is doubtful for Saturday’s game, but if he does not start, the play is simply pushed out of the prizepicks stack.

Seeger has been in great form lately, as he has surpassed this total in 11 of his last 17 matches (65%). I don’t expect Seeger to slow down any time soon, as his metrics this season are outstanding.

As of now, Caesar has .382 xwOBA, .288 xBA and .535 xSLG.
