Even before the Nothing phone (1), it was with the headphones that Nothing, the British manufacturer founded by former OnePlus boss Carl Pei, launched. In the summer of 2021, the firm launched its Nothing heard (1). It seems, however, that nothing is done with the audio domain. On Twitter, the brand confirmed that it is working on new wireless headphones.

It was in a post on Twitter that Nothing unveiled a first teaser of its Nothing ear (Stick), headphones that appear to be different from the first ear (1) in particular with a very different case.

Ear (stick). Supremely comfortable. Exquisitely unique. Exclusively Revealed at Chet Lo’s Spring Summer 2023 Show“, Indicates the brand in the publication on the social network. The show in question took place during London Fashion Week on Tuesday, September 20. The headphone case was thus able to directly integrate one of the designer’s pieces.

However, this is not the first time we have heard of the Nada (Stick) ear. At the end of June, the British manufacturer’s headphones had already leaked by leaker SnoopyTech. We were then able to see the case from the front with the earphones hidden behind a transparent cover. If the headphones retained, at first glance, the transparent appearance of the Nothing (1) ear temples, however, they seemed to sport a different design.

Headphones in open format, without noise reduction

Indeed, unlike the firm’s first headphones, the Nothing ear (Stick) would not be in-ear headphones, but rather open format headphones, like the AirPods 3 from Apple. Therefore, they should not be equipped with silicone tips that enter the ear canal, but with speakers placed in front of the entrance to the ear canal. They also wouldn’t ship active noise reduction.

As a reminder, the Nothing ear (1) seduced last year in particular for its very good value for money. Sold for under $100, they offered convincing enough sound and noise reduction to satisfy most users. A value for money that seems to be Nothing’s leitmotif since its launch, since the Nothing phone had managed to distinguish itself not only for its design, but also for its aggressive positioning.

For now, we still don’t know when and at what price the brand’s new Nothing ear (Stick) headphones will be officially launched.
