Two meetings were scheduled at 6:00 p.m. this Saturday during the 5th day of the League of Nations. In Group 4 of League B, Norway faced Slovenia at home. And the locals turned the situation around to finally beat Erling Braut Haaland’s teammates (2-1). Despite the numerous chances saved by Jan Oblak, imperial in his cages in the first half (24 and 45), the Norwegians ended up opening the scoring after the break. After a poor recovery by Zan Karnicnik, who sent the ball to Mohamed Elyounoussi and returned to the Norwegian striker who was able to finish off without problems (47th). Then Slovenia came back to life. Well thrown deep, Benjamin Sesko crossed to Andraz Sporar who took over from close range and fooled Nyland (69th). After a poor recovery from the Norwegian defence, once again the Slovenian nugget, Sesko, executed a cross-half volley from outside the area that was to die near the Norwegian goalkeeper’s post (81st). With this victory, Slovenia regains 3rd place from Sweden before their match against Serbia (at 8:45 p.m.) while Norway remains in first place.
In the other game scheduled for 6:00 p.m., corresponding to matchday 5 of Group 2 of League C, Northern Ireland (3rd) received Kosovo (2nd). Behind Greece, the solid leader of this group, the Irish also reversed the situation (2-1). The visitors opened the scoring after a goal from Vedat Muriqi after an assist from Donat Rrudhani (58th, 1-0). The Irish equalizer came a few minutes from the end of the match thanks to a goal from Gavin Whyte, returned a few minutes earlier, after a pass from Shayne Francis Lavery (82nd, 1-1). In the last seconds, Josh Magennis (90º+2, 2-1) validated the islanders’ victory. With this result, Northern Ireland is one point behind Kosovo while Greece will face Cyprus at 8:45 p.m.
