Alameda is expected to repay the loan with $6,553 BTC and 51,000 ETH at the end of September 30. In a July 20, 2022, tweet, Alameda said that he was “happy to repay the Voyager loan…as long as it works out for Voyager.”
In exchange, Alameda will receive approximately $160 million that it originally pledged for the loan. This sum will be in the form of 4.5 million tokens. FTX (FTT) and 63.75 million Serum Tokens (SRM).
What is happening with Voyager Digital?
Voyager has taken two hits in 2022, starting with the drop in crypto prices since the beginning of the year. Add to that that Land crashed in May, triggering a domino effect that hit crypto lending platforms like CelsiusBlockFi and Voyager itself.
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July and is trying to repay investors. Court documents indicate that Voyager lent approximately $1.6 billion in cryptocurrency, including one to Alameda Research.
What happens now?
Voyager Digital has turned down several lifelines since filing for bankruptcy, such as a $500 million bailout offered by Alameda Research, which she rejected saying it would harm customers. Even Binance offered to acquire the company in a recent bankruptcy auction.
CEO Stephen Ehrlich appears to be hopeful that To travel survive this situation and continue with their activities, as evidenced by a series of tweets published in July. For now, he’s sticking to the plan, but we’ll have to wait and see if the company pulls through.
